Is this motorhome beautiful or ugly?

This is the actual interior of a motorhome. I will make 10 or 11 people in America (and maybe a few in Canada) angry with this statement, but here's is what I think of this RV: I think it looks like a bad Las Vegas hotel room. Now, I realize this isn't a camper you take to Yellowstone with the kids for a summer vacation. This photo is from an ad in a motorhome magazine. There is no price shown but I can pretty much guarantee that the motorhome goes for at least a half million dollars and probably more.

Who buys a motorhome that looks like this? Don't ask me, because I don't get it. My own tastes run toward a much smaller RV, one that would fit in a space somewhat smaller than a football field -- like maybe what you would find in a national forest. This RV looks like a Greyhound bus on the outside except there is no picture of a dog and it's shinier.

Tell me what you think. Take my little 20-second private survey where you can vote (and see how others voted) if this is the most beautiful sight you have ever seen or if it is uglier than sin.

  1. Ridiculous....would have to have more money than brains. Could use some of the cash for an eye exam and a shrink for an ego adjustment.

  2. UGLY I wold need help to keep from getting sick!

  3. Hey, if you have the money and want to spend it like this, why not? Just because it's fancy and most people can't afford it doesn't make it bad. Personally I don't care for this particular color and style conbination but with a few changes it would suit me just fine. I think some people need an attitude adjustment. How do you think it would be received if the owner of a coach like this posted a picture of a little pop up and took a poll of how ugly, worthless and low class it is? What makes rving so great is the diverity of things. Go in whatever style you like and can afford and go where you want. No wonder the owners of many of these rigs tend to keep to themselves. I guess in order to fit in maybe you have to drive a piece of junk, drink a lot of beer and generally just be a "good ol boy". No "Class" allowed! Also FWIW I don't own a unit like this, but I would if I could and some day I will!

  5. Your right Chuck, that is really pug ugly!!

  6. Ummmm reminds me of someone's innards? Red blood vessels and yellow globs of fat?

Haha, now that I grossed you all out. Who WOULD own a rig like that? Ummmm Just like in the fashion world with all the weird concoctions you see on the runways, but never see on Main St. America.

Probably persons who might have the money and want to make a statement.

What statement ARE they making is the question, I guess.

  7. hey some peoples taste run different is all, don't forget this is america still. and no i don't own one like this, but would not put anyone's rig down just because my taste runs different !! If the owners like it, then good enough. I have found some real jerks in expensive and inexpensive motor homes and the opposite also.

  8. It is absolutely "Butt Ugly"! Must belong to some Hollywood 'prima donna'!!

  9. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. More to the point, I'm surprised that someone with RV related businesses would risk offending the "financially secure" individuals who might own such a rig!

  10. To each his own.

  11. Looks like it belongs parked in front of the Mustang Ranch..

  12. My wife is ugly and old,but I like it.

  13. This RV reeks of "ego" and "look at me" in my opinion. Some people have to make a statement with all of their money and this certainly proves it. At least in the good ole USA, people have a right to be extravagant if they want to or can afford to. So buy whatever RV you want and strut your stuff in extravagance if you must!

  14. Looks like a waiting room ,you might find in a brothel

The one who posted this one could be right, however, anyone who would actually purchase that ugly thing likely wouldn't be reading Chuck's Newsletter.

  16. I think is is o-kay. Everyone has different tastes, and if they like it, they'll buy it. Just like some of the multi-million dollar homes that are unusual. At least it doesn't have cheap, partical board printed fake wood paneling all over it, (which I detest and would never consider buying). I myself would prefer real, natural woods, and marbles, but that is my taste.

  17. This was obviously built for someone who wants to flaunt their wealth (or ability to secure financing) and not for those of us who want quality features without being gaudy. While some may see beauty - I agree, it is ugly!

  18. I think it is pretty

  19. Sounds like a lot of folks have covert "ugly envy". I agree with the sensible readers who say.....to each his own. Tastes are different and so are budgets. I'll bet most of these naysayers would quickly change their tune if they won one of these rigs.

Oh and as far as the price goes, anything built on a Prevost chasis starts at over a million. I'm fairly sure that the person who worked hard enough to afford this rig isn't going to lose any sleep over these negative comments.

  20. I agree that the RV looks like a gawdy Las Vegas hotel room, but I have a problem with Ramblin Rose saying that a pug is ugly! :) The layout doesn't look bad, but the ceiling and the colors..not too practical for any type of traveling.

  21. Double UGLY!! It looks more like a brothel than a family motorhome.

  22. I think it's a cultural thing, perhaps for people who would paint the trim on their houses purple, spike their hair, have more metal on their skin or clothing than you could find in a hardware store, etc. Doesn't hurt anyone so long as they don't have to look at it and look what they contributed to the economy. Putting together this eyesore required a lot of labor and created a lot of paychecks.

  23. While admitting that every one is free to chose what they can afford (My camper is 11 years old) that is one ugly interior!!!! Kinda reminds of a place I saw in Paris many years ago (I went for the floor show!)

  24. All their taste is in their mouth.

  25. Chuck,
Stick to your guns, Bud. Have an opinion. Don't be afraid to say your mind. Too many prissy people with "politically correct" viewpoints have already screwed up this world.
As to the big rig, well, it's just a bit too "Op Art" for me as well.
    Cheers

PS, oh yeah, don't be afraid to sign your name, all you big talkers out there.

  26. It's O.K.; but, the ceiling detail has got to go.

    ReplyDelete
  27. It certainly is colorful. I'm sure if the people that think its ugly were given the motorhome, they might change their mind and keep it.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Actually it appears to be a fairly functional modern design --but whoa- who decided on the colors, totally negated any positve feelings--give it to me and I'll rehab it-and then you'll rave. You have to admit most of our Rv's have been in a time warp when it comes to more modern design and decorating(mine included-but we love them anyway) T

  29. It isn't anywhere near my cup of tea. I would feel like I couldn't sit down on the "good" furniture. As others have said, to each his own, but I wouldn't even want to visit this rig. And Hey! Pugs are adorable, then again, to each his/her own

  30. It's not to awful bad. But I do agree that the ceiling has got to go!!! It would give me trouble.
To each their own. That's what makes the world go around.
Those that 'tent' camp think RV'ers aren't really camping. I've heard a few RV'ers mention that they think tenters are low lifes.
But hey! It's all in what you can afford. What you like. What you want to flash and flaunt! And for some the 'bling'.

  31. For me to decide, I would love to see the occupants of this novelty in it. I am certain their garb would make a very loud statement as well. I can imagine rings on every finger, each one a very large and multicoloured synthetic stone.
My thoughts reminding me very much of "Monty Pythons flying circus".

  32. Looks like the 60's but in pink. You would have to smoke something for this one!

  33. The cealing leaves somethint to be desired but, the lay out is good.

    Besides, its theirs not yours.

What happened to the American right to express ypurself as you see fit?

  34. I thought it interesting that so many readers seemed to know what a brothel looks like!!

  35. I have owned all types of Rvees over the last thirty years , I really believe this is a neat unit, bet it cost a million bucks over what you suggested....half mill, can you just think of all the tailgateing at the colleges with red colors.....many it wouldnt be ugle on those parking lots that for certain...look around they are every place.

  36. Looks like some one has way too much time on their hands or is short of self-confidence and feels he or she has to make some sort of statement as if to say- hey; look and see how different I am.

  37. You know, it's not my style, but it's refreshing to see something new and different. RV decors are usually so boring and indistinguishable from each other. I like how much light there is; keeps the place from being dark and making you feel claustrophobic.

I don't think it's fair to go off and call it disgusting or nauseating. I'd rather have that rig than some dingy thing with the same old greens and browns and floral/paisley all over the place.

  40. Looks like a CSI crime scene, but upside down.

  41. I just bought my first rv, a 16ft trailer. My parents had a 24ft class C my parents had while I grew up. Growing up in Alaska, that rv went everywhere, fishing, camping, skiing, atving you name it. If anyone on this blog would tell me that the design of this rv would stop me from doing any of these things (other than the ceiling of course, oh and size limitations in the campsites) I'd say 'whatever!'

  42. Looks like a FEMA unit used by FEMA disaster inspectors.

  43. It wouldn't be too bad if they hadn't spilled that paint all over the ceiling. Otherwise, it is bright , light and cheerful. Geez, lady!! how much for an hour?

  45. I like the design but not the red.... not liking the red is a personal thing not a comment on it being that..... the ceiling does leave a lot to be desired though that part is ugly..... if I were rich and could afford it sure in a different color for me and without that attrocious ceiling design I would buy it....... not apt to ever happen though...... oh and for the one who wanted to know the commenters age I am female and 63

  47. I think that Anna Nicole Smith would have loved it!

  48. It is a security measure. No-one would steal that RV!

    ReplyDelete
  49. I agree with both sides... It is...quite..shiney, but i think you can spend your money on something better, even if your rich, on the other hand. If your rich and dont have anything else to do with your money, why not? I personally do not like this "hotel on wheels" because it's just not real with todays life.

  50. The nice thing about a MH is you can decorate it to suit yourself.

I looked and looked at the picture and thought hummm !!! where are the wet towels from the pool going to hang? Where do they keep the fishing poles? Oh it rained today muddy feet...

Now PLEASE somewhere they are not connecting the dots on what a MH is all about.
