Stuck in a big rainstorm

(Friday, Oct. 1, 2010) -- I'm pinned down in a dark, heavily wooded campground in the western Massachusetts town of Pittsfield in the heart of the Berkshires. A huge storm is passing through. Rain is pounding on my roof. Just before daybreak a small tree toppled, glancing off my roof. But there's no damage that I can see. I had planned to leave here today but will stay until tomorrow rather than risk driving in this mess. I'll use the time to finish the RVtravel.com newsletter. Here's a little video I recorded earlier as I pretended I was a TV weatherman.

  1. Is there a hole in the bottom left corner of your bumper? Did the tree do that or did you back into something? Keep us updated on your travels. Thanks...

  3. Been following the east coast weather issues from here at home (Olympia).
Be safe in your travels. An additional day parked in safety is better than taking a chance in hazardous conditions.
    Be careful!

  5. Hi Chuck
Glad you got to see the leaves of Eastern states. Up in Ontario we also get the great colour of autum. It is hard to explain the colour without pictures and even the pictures do not do it justice. Have a great trip and enjoy the view

  7. Great video! We have a friend who has a farm right outside of Pittsfield - beautiful area (when it's not raining.) I guess you didn't climb Mr. Greylock.

  8. We were traveling through Vermont and New Hampshire in the same storm. Never seen so much rain! Glad for our 20K pound RV because the cars were sliding all over. Right on - the leaves were beautiful even in the overcast skies.
